A new approach to remote handling for chemical analytical purposes is described, which provides a cheap alternative to the American masterslave manipulator. Intended primarily for use in the Dounreay highactivity laboratories, it supplies most of the services required by the analyst, by an over the wall technique, while still permitting the fitting of a shield roof over the cubicle. Activities of up to 80 curies may be handled. (auth)
