PIPING COMPONENTS FOR ORGANIC COOLANT SYSTEMS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4210108

The organic compounds proposed for use as reactor coolants have a greater tendency to leak than water and are more difficult to seal. A development program was established to evaluate the types of closures required tc prcduce a leak-tight system. Two proposed coolant compounds, monoisopropylbiphenyl and the eutectic mixiure of 55% ortho terphenyl, 25% biphenyl, and 20% meta terphenyl were used. Results of the evaluation are presented.
