RADIOLOGICAL STUDY OF WHEAT MONOSOMICS. I. DIFFERENTIAL SENSITIVITY OF MONOSOMIC X AND THE DISOMIC TO X-IRRADIATION

Journal Article · · Genetics (U.S.)
OSTI ID:4207193
A new approach to raditaion plant genetics is described which involves the anlayses of differential sensitivity of series of aneuploids to x irradiation. Differential dosage of a specific chromosome may be reflected in differential radiosensitivity of the aneuploid and the disomics. Differential dosage of a group of genes located of the specific chromosome may result in a differential frequency of specific mutants in the X/sub 1/ generation. Data are included from a study of radiation responses of monosomic X and disomics of Triticum aestivum after irradiation of dormant seeds with a wide range of x-ray dosages. (C.H.)
