Two methods are presented for the separation of zirconium from uranium fissium alloy. One method separates zirconium, molybdenum, and palladium from the other components by precipitation with cupferron. Zirconium is separated from molybdenum and palladium by successive precipitation with ammonium hydroxide. The other method consists of ammonium hydroxide precipitations, followed by precipitation with p-chloromandelic acid. The zirconium is determined spectrophotometrically as the alizarin sulfonate lake.
