CRITICAL MASS OF AN OMR CORE USING PLATE TYPE FUEL ELEMENTS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4205722
The clean critical mass of an OMR core was determined experimentally usfng low enrichment U platetype fuel elements in a six-inch lattice spacing and Santowax R at 340 deg F as the moderator. Criticality was attained wtth 39 fuel elements (3915 kg) present in the core, three shim rods withdrawn and the fourth shim rod about 7/8 withdrawn. (W.D.M.)
