INVESTIGATION OF CERTAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DISCHARGE IN GEIGER-MUELLER COUNTERS

The pulses were investigated in self-quenching Geiger-Mueller counters filled with a mixture of argon and ethyl alcohol. The speed of propagation of the discharge in the counter turns out to be approximately proportional to the overvoltage and the current seems preportional to the square of the overvoltage.
