SOME EVIDENCE SUGGESTING THE PERCEPTION OF MODERATE-INTENSITY RADIATION AMONG ALBINO RATS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4199315
Two experiments designed to test the hypothesis that albino rats perceive x radiation as a noxious stimulus are reported. Each experiment involved two conditions which were exactly alike except for the location of a protective lead shield. For half of the Ss, the lead shield was located in front of the right-band compartment of the shuttle-boxes; for the other half, the lead shield was located in front of the left-hand compartment. In each experiment the results suggested that radiation, or its immediate consequence, was perceived by the rats; however, in each experiment the observed effect was very moderate. (auth)
