HIGH TEMPERATURE AQUEOUS CORROSION OF ALUMINUM-PLUTONIUM AND ALUMINUM- SILICON-PLUTONIUM ALLOYS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4199307
Al-Pu and Al-Pu-Si alloys were tested to determine their shont term corrosion in 350 and 360 deg C water. Tests of one day or less duration were done on bare as-cast and bare extruded alloys of varying Pu concentration. The performance of the alloys improves with increasing Pu up to 13%. Cold work drastically decreases performance. Addition of 12 wt% Si had the effect of rendering the Pu concentration resistant to attack for 24 hours. (J.R.D.)
