THE PHOTONEUTRON CROSS SECTION NEAR THRESHOLD (thesis). Technical Report No. 13

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4195149
An experimental and theoretical study of photoneutron cross sections near threshold is described. It is shown that photonuclear measurements can be used to determine such nuclear properties as neutron binding energies, spins and parities of energy levels, relative widths of different decay modes of states formed by photon absorption, and electromagnetic transition probabilities. The experimental apparatus is discussed. Decay schemes of the nuclides Zr/sup 90/, Mo/sup 92/, and Br/sup 81/ are presented. (W.D.M.)
