EVALUATION OF AERIAL SURVEY METER V-780

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4193578
A field evaluation was made of preproduction models of OCDM V-780 radiological survey instruments developed for aerial measurement of ground dose rate. Dose rates were measured by ground-survey teams along predetermined paths; these measurements were compared with corresponding measurements taken by aerial- survey teams. Correlation between the aerial- and ground-survey instrument readings varied up to factors of 10 to 1. The conclusion drawn from this test is that this instrument must undergo a major revision for civil defense application, both in basic design and in details of packaging and component selection.
