The effects of V and Nb on the structure and mechanical properties of binary titanium alloys at elevated temperatures were investigated. The data on recrystallization of titanium and its alloys and mechanical properties of aluminum-titanium-vanadium alloys were also analyzed. A high metal stability at elevated temperatures was achieved by alloying titarium with 8% Al, 8% Zr, and 1% Ta with cobalt (prolonged treatment at 590 deg C and shorttime treatment at 870 deg C). Alloys with 6% Al, 1% V, and 4% Zr showed satisfactory mechanical properties at room and elevated temperatures. Alloying technically pure titanium (k = 0.36) with 6% Al increases the k factor to O.44, and with simultaneous alloying with 8% Al and 4% Zr (or molybdenum), the k factor reaches 0.5, permitting operations at 430 to 680 deg C.
