FUEL BURN-UP STUDY OF THE U-MOLY.FUELED HALLAM REFERENCE CORE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4188830
Calculations were made to determine the fuel burn-up of the U-Mo fueled Hallam reference core. A peak exposure of 7000 Mwd/t, corresponding to a radial- averaged core exposure of 4400 Mwd/t, or continuous full power operation for about 1.5 years, requires a DELTA k/k of 6.45%; 4.06% for burn-up + 2.39% to override equilibrium Xe and Sm poison. Sample calculations on burn-up are included. (J.R.D.)
