PARTIAL-WAVE DISPERSION RELATIONS FOR THE PROCESS $pi$ + $pi$ $Yields$ N + / anti N/

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys.Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
The problems of pion-nucleon and nucleon-nucleon scattering and nucleon- electromagnatic structure involve the matrix element for two pions producing a nucleonantinucleon pair. By use of the Mandelstam representation, dispersion relations for the partial-wave scattering amplitudes of this process may be written. In the lowenergy range these dispersion relations can be transformed into integral equations whose kernels are simply related to pion-nucleon and pion- pion scattering amplitudes. (auth)
