VELOCITY OF SOUND IN LIQUID He$sup 3$ AT HIGH PRESSURES

Journal Article · · Physical Review (U.S.) Superseded in part by Phys. Rev. A, Phys. Rev. B: Solid State, Phys. Rev. C, and Phys. Rev. D
The velocity of 14-Mc/sec sound in liquid He/sub 3/ was measured at pressures up to 9 atmospheres in the temperature range 1.2 to 3.2 deg K. A few measurements were also made in the gas just above the critical temperature. A possible phonon contribution to the thermal coefficient of expansion of the liquid is discussed. (auth)
