A NEW RAPID METHOD FOR DETERMINING THORIUM IN THE PRESENCE OF ZIRCONIUM, IRON, LANTHANUM, URANIUM AND OTHER HEAVY METALS (in German)

S>A new procedure for the complexometric determination of thorium has been worked out. Thorium-complexone is decomposed below pH 1 by sodium sulfate, and the liberated complexone-III can then be titrated with bismuth nitrate solution using Xylenol Orange as indicator. The procedure may be used in the presence of large amounts of zirconium, iron, lanthanum, uranium, manganese, and magnesium, as well as smaller amounts of cobalt and nickel. (auth)
