Results are presented of an analysis of pictures taken of a propane bubble chamber exposed to a momentum analazed 1.1 Bev pi /sup -/ meson beam from the Brookhaven Cosmotron. The total cross sections for production of LAMBDA / sup 0/- theta /sup 0/ particles and SIGMA /sup 0/- theta /sup 0/ particles are respectively- 0.24 plus or minus 0.04 mb and 0.14 plus or minus 0.04 mb. The probabilities, alpha LAMBDA and alpha theta , taat the LAMBDA /sup 0/ and theta /sup 0/ particles decay by their normal charged mode are alpha = 0.57 plus or minus 0.10 and alpha theta = 0.46 plus or minus 0.10. The angular distribution of decay products is consistent with spin 1/2 for the LAMBDA /sup 0/ particle and spin zero for the theta /sup 0/ particle. The results combined with the results of similar experiments at different energies indicate parity is not conserved in LAMBDA /sup 0/ decay. (auth)
