Technical Report ·

Several different types of experimental facilities were evaluated to determine the most suitable and economical means of demonstrating the technical feasibility of the PBR concept. The principal activity tn prtmary loop decontamiration was the analysis of systems for concentrating the gaseous fission products in the primary loop and the analysis of fission product removal systems and their effectiveness in holding down the primary loop activity. A nuclear model for the PBR was constructed in order to have a means of rapidly determining the effect of different design variables on reactor characteristics. Bed characteristics are discussed and model core and components are illustrated. (See also NYO-2373.) (W.D.M.)
