EARLY TIME DECAY OF FISSION PRODUCT MIXTURES. II. GAMMA ENERGY RELEASE AND IONIZATION RATES FOLLOWING THERMAL NEUTRON FISSION OF U$sup 23$$sup 5$

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4183778
Photon spectra at various times from one second to five hours after instantaneous thermal neutron fission of U/sup 235/ are listed. From these spectra are computed total gamma ray energy release rates and theoretical air ionization rates 3 feet above an infinite plane unifornfly contaminated with fission products. Equations are given which provide a good fit to the rate curves within the estimated accuracy of the data. Values for accumulated dose are derived. The energy release and ionization decay rates and the integrated doses are compared with those derived from the t/sup -1.2 function. (auth)
