A review is presented of ultrasonic welding techniques for joining dissimilar metals that are difficult or impracticable to join by conventional techniques. Applications to structural, electrical, and electronic fields are discussed. Ultrasonic bonds in bimetal combinations of hightemperature refractory metals and alloys such as molybdenum, titanium, zirconium, and precipitation-hardening stainless steels were produced and found to be of good structural integrity.
