MHW converter (RTG)

The MHW Converter is a $sup 238$Pu-fueled power supply being developed by ERDA to provide 150-W units for space applications. Silicon-germanium thermoelectric materials are used to convert the heat from the isotope to electrical power at a design voltage of 30 volts. The initial converter performance and the degradation mechanisms which affect long-term performance are discussed. (auth)
