Topological cross sections and pion multiplicity analysis for pp annihilations near 1 GeV/c

Topological cross sections are reported for pp annihilations with 0 to 8 prongs in the region from 0.7 to 1.1 GeV/c. After correction for nonpionic final states the moments of the neutral and charged pion multiplicity distributions are determined at an intermediate hitting in this region. We find =1.67plus-or-minus0.06, =1.77plus-or-minus0.13, and correlation coefficients f$sub 2$$sup --$=-1.29plus-or-minus0.12, f$sub 2$$sup 0-$=-0.30plus- or-minus0.08. Comparisons are made between these and other experimental results as well as several theoretical models.
