SOME NEW INTERMETALLIC COMPOUNDS OF BERYLLIUM
Two new classes of Be intermetallic compounds, M/sub 3/Be and MBe/sub 20/ , were found in addition to compounds found in the M/sub 2/Be/sub 17/ and MBe/sub 13/ classes. The lattice parameters were calculated from low Bragg angle x-ray- powderdiffraction data. (1) Mo/sub 3/Be was found. (2) Hf - Be, Nb-Be, Ti-Be, Ta-Be, and Zr-Be systems were found to contain M/sub 2/Be/sub 17/, but not so for the Cr-Be, Mo-Re, Re-Be, V-Be, and W- Be systems. (3) LaBe/sub 13/ was found. (4) MBe/sub 20/ was found in the Mo-Re, Re-Be, and W-Be systems. (D.L.C.)
