SOME PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF NEPTUNIUM METAL. II. A STUDY OF THE ALLOTROPIC TRANSFORMATIONS IN NEPTUNIUM

Journal Article · · Phys. and Chem. Solids
The phase transformations in neptunium metal were studied by thermal analysis, dilatometry, and resistivity measurements. The values obtained were: alpha yields beta 280 plus or minus 5 deg C, beta yields gamma 577 plus or minus 3 deg C, and gamma yields liquid 637 plus or minus 2 deg C. Roof the x-ray examination of the crystal structures of the three phases are compared with those of Zachariasen (Acta Cryst. 5, 660, 664(1952)). (auth)
