DESIGN AND PERFORMANCES OF A SLOW NEUTRON CHOPPER

The electronic and mechanical features of a time-orflight facility installed at the RC-1 reactor for neutron cross section measurements are described. The resolution and transmission of the slow chopper are discussed, as are experimental checks on the calibration of the timeof-flight scale and the resolution of the device. The results of neutron total cross section measurements for benzene at 0.001 to 0.1 ev are presented. (D.C.W.)
