MEASUREMENT OF THE HYPERFINE STRUCTURE SPLITTINGS OF THE $sup 4$$F$$sub 9$2/- GROUND STATE IN THE Co$sup 59$-I-SPECTRUM AND DETERMINATION OF THE QUADRUPOLE MOMENT OF THE Co$sup 59$ NUCLEUS (in German)

The hyperfine structure splittings of the electronic ground state a/sup 4/F/sub 9/2/ in the Co/sup 59/-I-spectrum were measured with a magnetic atomic- beam resonance-apparatus. From these splittings the magnetic dipole amd electric quadrupole interaction constants are found to be A(a/sup 4/F/sub 9/2/) = (450.284 plus or minus 0.01) Mc/sec, B(a/sup 4/F ) = (139.63 plus or minus 0.5) Mc/sec. Taking into account the mixture of the a/sup 4/F/sub 9/2/ state with states of the same 3d/sup 7/ 4s/sup 2/-electron-configuration, an electric quadrupole moment of Co/sup 59/ of Q-= (0.404 plus or minus 0.04) 10/sup -24/ cm/sup 2/ was obtained No Sternheimer-correction was included.
