A study was made of the effect upon extraction of the operating variables of a Podbfelniak Centrifugal Extractor. The variables studied were rotor speed, total flow rate through the extractor, and holdup in the rotor. Holdup was defined as the volume of the aqueous phase in the rotor divided by the total volume of liquid in the rotor. (W.L.H.)
