THE RAPID DETERMINATION OF ZIRCONIUM-95 (Di(2-ETHYL HEXYL) PHOSPHORIC ACID EXTRACTION

Following the removal of any radioiodine, Zr/sup 95/ is extracted as the di(2-ethyl hexyl) phosphate complex into toluene. This extract, after the removal of any radioiron, is then gamma counted. A single determination can be completed in 1/2 hour. The method is applicable to nitric, hydrochloric, or sulfuric acid solutions of fission products that have cooled for a minimum period of 15 days. The coefficient of variation should not exceed 2% when the counting statistics permit. (auth)
