The ammonium salt of diethanoldithiocarbamic acid was prepared; its behavior toward 36 cations at various pH levels was studied. Molybdenum and uranium can be determined spectrophotometrically by means of this reagent, either separately or in mixture in concertration ranges from 0.1 to 15 mu g Mo/sup 6+// ml or 2 to 25 mu g U/sup 6+//ml with excellent reproducibility. It was found that a number of cations do not interfere with the determination, in some cases after being masked by means of EDTA. (auth)
