Structure of active complexes in POCl 3 -SnCl 4 -Nd 3+

A comparison was made of the Stark splittings of the $sup 4$$I$$sub 9$/ $sub 2$, $sup 4$$I$$sub 11$$/$$sub 2$, and $sup 4$$F$$sub 3$$/$$sub 2$ levels of Nd$sup 3+$ active centers in several matrices containing phosphorus. It was found that the Stark sublevels of one of the active centers in the POCl$sub 3$--SnCl$sub 4$-- Nd$sup 3+$ inorganic laser liquid were close to the neodymium sublevels in NdP$sub 5$$O$$sub 14$. Hence, the data on the structure of active complexes in NdP$sub 5$$O$$sub 14$ were used in the development of a model of the structure of type A active centers in POCl$sub 3$--SnCl$sub 4$--Nd$sup 3+$ and in estimating the parameters of these centers.
