NEW DISCOVERIES OF URANIUM MINERALS IN ITALIAN LOCALITIES (in Italian)

Some specimens of minerals of the torbernite and metatorbernite group from Preit (Cozie Alps) and Camigliatello Silano (Calabria) were studied. The specimens from Preit deposits are formed by a member of the torbernitezeunerite series, rarely associated with a member of the autunite-uranospinite series. The corresponding dehydration products have also been found. The lattice parameters of the various minerals have been calculated, and the geochemical significance of the presence of arsenates among the secondary minerals of many alpine uranium deposits is discussed. Autunite has been found at Camigliatello Silano; it has a considerably disordered reticular lattice, due very likely to the dehydration conditions of the mineral. (auth)
