Measurement of the power density distribution of a monoenergetic electron beam and investigation of its effects on the welding seams in electron beam welding (in German)

The radial power density distribution as well as the cross section were investigated in dependence on the beam parameters such as beam current, acceleration voltage, working distance and focussing, in the beam of a 15 kW electron beam welding equipment. A measuring method and apparatus were developed for this. This apparatus also allows the focussing of the electron beam. A computer programme was set up to evaluate the measured results and to calculate the radial power density distribution. The welding seam formation was compared with the calculated power density distribution using polished samples. (orig./ LH)
