Progress report on the wisker weaving all-hexahedral meshing algorithm
- Sandia National Labs., Albuquerque, NM (United States)
The whisker weaving algorithm generates a Spatial Twist Continuum (STC), which is then dualized to form an all-hexahedral mesh. Whisker weaving forms several types of STC degeneracies, including knife doublets, triple doublets, and through-cells. This paper describes new algorithms for detecting and resolving these degeneracies. Knife doublets and triple doublets are resolved by preventing their formation a-priori, meaning whisker weaving removes these degeneracies as soon as they are formed. Through-cells are allowed to form, and are resolved once whisker weaving has generated a complete STC. This paper concludes with three examples of non-trivial geometries successfully woven by the whisker weaving algorithm.
