ELECTRON SPIN RESONANCE OF SOME $gamma$-IRRADIATED POLYMERS

Journal Article · · Mem. Fac. Sci., Kyushu Univ. Ser. B
OSTI ID:4165444
The electron spin resonances of free radicals produced in the gamma - irradiated long chain polymers such as polywinyl chloride, copolymer of vinylidene chloride and vinyl chloride, polytetrafluoroethylene, and polymethyl methacrylate were observed mainly at 3cm wavelength and partially at 8mm wavelength. The rates of production and extinction of radicals in the polymers are discussed and the hyperfine structure of the spectrum of polymethyl methacrylate is shown not to support the model of bi-radical for the magnetic center.
