The Atomic Energy Commission has a limited research program in oceanography and marine biology. The program includes specialized basic problems such as deep ocean currents as a distributive mechanism for radioac tivity, dispersal and distribution of fall-out radionuclides through the ccean layers, food web concentration of radioactive isotopes in ocean waters, and mechanisms for reduction or dilution of possible centers of radioactivity in the ocean.
