A methodology for assessing cumulative risk from multiple air pollution sources is illustrated. Air dispersion and risk assessment computer programs, and regional meteorology and topology were used to calculate the maximum individual cancer risks in San Diego County, California. Preliminary results identified areas with the highest estimated cancer risks resulting from toxic air emissions from 30 large industrial facilities. The risk assessment methodology was found to be feasible for relatively small subregions. 5 refs., 2 figs.
