Title: Calculated neutron spectrum from 800-MeV protons incident on a copper beam stop

Abstract

A Monte Carlo calculation was performed to obtain the neutron spectrum generated by 800-MeV protons incident on the LAMPF main copper beam stop. The total flux is calculated to be of the order of 10$sup 13$ n/cm$sup 2$-sec-mA at full-beam intensity of 1 mA, with flux spectra calculated for angles of 20$sup 0$, 30$sup 0$, 60$sup 0$, 90$sup 0$, 120$sup 0$, and 150$sup 0$.
