Half-lives of $sup 18$Ne and $sup 20$F

The half-lives of $sup 18$Ne and $sup 20$F have been measured by multiscaling $beta$ rays detected in a plastic scintillator. $sup 18$Ne was formed in the $sup 16$O($sup 3$He, n)$sup 18$Ne reaction at E/sub $sup 3$He/ =5.7 MeV using a Ta$sub 2$ $sup 16$$O$$sub 5$ target depleted in $sup 17$O and $sup 18$O. $sup 20$F was produced in the $sup 19$F(d, p)$sup 20$F reaction with 2.0-MeV deuterons on a BaF$sub 2$ target. Half-life values of 1.669 +- 0.004 sec for $sup 18$Ne and 10.996 +- 0.020 sec for $sup 20$F were obtained. Using the present and other recent results the A=18 $beta$ decay mirror asymmetry is found to be -0.86 +- 0.80%. (AIP)
