The results of the general scattering theory derived by W. M. Fairbaern (Proc. Phys. Soc. A 238, 1957) were ap-plied in calculations of differential cross sections d sigma /d OMEGA in inelastic scattering. The cross sections were determined by Born approximation. The reaction Mg/sup 24/(d,d') Mg/sup 24/* ( DELTA E = 1.37 Mev, E/sub 0/ = 15 Mev) was calculated. The summation was carried out assuming that the intermediate nuclei (I/sub N/) are limited by the lower levels of Mg/sup 25/ and Al/sup 25/ with /sub N/ are achieved by captaring only s or d nucleons, and I/sub N/ yields I/sub f/ by transmitting either s or d free nucleons. The results are plotted together with data for the d sigma /d OMEGA ratio for the process a. (R.V.J.)
