FINITE SELF-ENERGY OF CLASSICAL POINT PARTICLES

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters
It is shown that finite results for the classical selfenergies of point particles can be obtained if the gravitational contribution to the total energy is included. at least for the static (Coulomb-type) contribution. For the static case, it is shown that the natural cut-off funnished by general relativity implies that all the mass of a point charge arises from its total self-field and that a neutral particle has no mass.
