We studied the abundance and distribution of marbled murrelets (Brachyramphus marmoratus) in the Naked Island area of Prince William Sound, Alaska, in the summers of 1991 and 1992, to supplement inland nesting habitat studies conducted there. We surveyed randomly selected transects by boat in the `inner zone` (water <2 km from shore) and `outer zone` (waters 2-5 km from shore) in early summer (late May or early June) and late summer (late July or early August).
