Vibrational relaxation of HF and DF due to collisions with He and O$sub 2$ in shock waves

The vibrational relaxation times for HF and DF due to collisions with He and O$sub 2$ are obtained by recording the IR emission behind a shock wave. The results are examined in the framework of the V--R, T energy transfer mechanism characteristic of hydrogen halide molecules.
