The author examined the shifting dynamics of India`s security environment and the changing strategic relationships among India, Pakistan, China, Russia, and the United States. He also analyzes India`s security environment and the challenges that India confronts in this post-Cold War period--internal, conventional military, and nuclear. While these challenges are profound and interrelated, the author believes that stability in the South Asia region will continue, at least in the early years of the next century.
