The objective of this project was to develop statewide crop-by-county estimated for ozone-caused yield losses in 1991 and 1992, and to expand the methodological basis of the California Air Resources Board`s Crop Loss Assessment Program by using GIS techniques to disaggregate the data used to estimate yield losses in California. Ozone concentrates on a monthly basis were interpolated within state air basins using data from the California Air Resources Board, and imposing a 2,000 foot altitudinal barrier to air pollution transport. Monthly average 7-hr, 12-hr and SUM06 values were calculated. Potential yield losses were estimated using yield response functions published in the open literature, and delimited by the location and extend of irrigated farmlands within a given agricultural production area.
