DEFORMATION MODES OF ZIRCONIUM AT 77, 575, AND 1075 K

Journal Article · · Trans. Met. Soc. AIME
OSTI ID:4156895

The only slip system observed in zirconium crystals deformed at 77, 575, and 1075 deg K was (101-bar0) STA1-bar21-bar0! with a critical resolved shear stress in tension of 1.0 kg/m/sup 2/ at 77 deg K; 0.2 kg/mm/sup 2/ at 575 deg K; and 0.02 kg/mm/sup 2/ at 1075 deg K. The active twin planes were {101-bar2}, {112- bar1}, {112-bar2}, and {112-bar3} with varying temperature dependence. A detailed analysis for the slip direction using Laue spot asterism is appended.
