MICROWAVE GAMMA-RAY ION CHAMBER. Period covered: May 1958 through November 1959

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4155709
A microwave gamma ion chamber (and its associated equipment), which is capable of measuring gamma radiation in the range from 10/sup 6/ to 10/sup 10/ erg/g-hr (carbcn) was developed. This equipment operates at a microwave frequency of abcut 9kmc and measures radiation by using the changes in the refiection coefficient looking into a gas-filled microwave resonant cavity caused by ionization of the gas owing to radiation. Data on gas conductivity and resonant frequency shift were taken for different gas mixtures. (auth)
