300,000-KWE SGR NUCLEAR POWER PLANT OF CURRENT TECHNOLOGY
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4155504
A 300 Mw(e), sodium-cooled, graphite-moderated nuclear power plant based on existing technical information is described. The plant prcduces high- pressure, hightemperature steam to generate electricity at a thermal efficiency of 36.8%. The total plant capital cost including indirect construction costs, contingency, and interest during construction, but excluding escalation, is estimated to be 6/kw. Estimated cost of power generation is 7.86 mills/kw-hr. All components of the plant are within the capability of current technology. Plant design is based on experience with the 8ndium beactor Experiment and on design and development information from the Hallam Nuclear Power Facility program. (auth)
