EFFECTS OF IMPURITIES ON THE LUMINESCENCE OF RARE EARTH CHELATES

The effects of impurities on the luminescence of europium trisbenzoylacetonate (EuBA), europium trisdibenzoylmethide (EuDBM), and terbium trisacetylacetonate (TbAA) chelates were studied. An increased number of lines in the impure chelates was observed. Measurements of decay times supported tue observation that the impure chelates consist of different species. The results show that the luminescence processes in the rare earth chelate is very sensitive to the presence of impurities. (P.C.H.)
