The desorption of Sr/sup 90/ and Cs/sup 137/ from montmorillonite and kaolinite by CaCl/sub 2/ and NaCl solutions was investigated. A formula which described the desorption of microamounts of ions and which corresponded to the ion exchange and completely reversible sorption processes of the ions was proposed. It was shown that sorption of strontium-90 by montmorillonite and kaolinite is completely reversible, whereas, that of cesium-137 is partially irreversible. (auth)
