PION-PROTON SCATTERING BELOW 150 MEV. PART II
Values found for 30-Mev scattering at the two centerof-mass angles 116.8 ction prod- and 155 ction prod- are, respectively, for positive pions 0.849 plus or minus 0.048 and 1.098 plus or minus 0.075 mb sterad/sup -1/, and for negative pions of the same energy 0.187 plus or minus 0.020 and 0.165 plus or minus 0.022 mb sterad/sup -1/. Phase-shift analyses are made of recent published pi /sup -/ distributions in the above energy range and serve to furnish prescriptions for the low-energy behavior of the T = 1/2 phases. Calculations of sigma /sup --/, sigma /sup -0/, and sigma /sub total/- at various energies agree with measurements found in the literature. An essential agreement is found between pi /sup -/ + p forward scattering amplitudes and a dispersion equation over this energy region. (auth)
