EVALUATION OF RANDOM COINCIDENCES IN A RISING COINCIDENCE OF THE $sub 4$FAST-SLOW$sub 4$ TYPE (in French)

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods
In a classical slow-fast coincidence circuit, the random coincidences have several origins that are difficult to appreciate. A model is proposed that enables one to account for all the possible random coincidences. The practical and theoretical evaluation of these combinations lead to the point that the secondary random coincidences caused by the slow coincidences can be neglected in comparison to those given by the fast coincidences, if the resolution time of the slow coincidence circuit, the detector yield, and the source activity are limited.
